VRSTA
VRSTA (Virtual Reality Surgery Training Application) is a medical virtual reality application for trainees or anyone with intent
of learning about the surgical field. Its main design goal is having a reliable and accurate
application that educatessurgical trainees, medical students or anyone with
a basic medical knowledge.
The purpose is to provide an immersive, interactive and educational
experience using virtual reality. This purpose is achieved using on-the-spot
training (Simulation of a surgery) and information delivery.
Practicing surgery by performing an operation is the main use case for VRSTA,
that’s why it includes a detailed simulation for the “Open Appendectomy”
surgery. However, VRSTA offers more than that, it includes a use case for
studying human anatomy systems and another one for studying surgical
instruments. These last two use cases are based on interactive information
delivery.
